Pakistani team’s fast bowling coach Azhar Mehmood has a solution to avoid the repeat of recent no ball controversy, according to former wicket-keeper and captain Rashid Latif.
On Thursday, Virat Kohli was fumed after Lasith Malinga’s last-ball no ball, which was not spotted by umpire Sundaram Ravi in the IPL match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
“Our fast bowling coach Azhar Mehmood has been using the sensor (during net practices), which gives beep voice once the bowler’s front foot crosses the line. It is a very useful device and such technology is also used in tennis”, Latif, speaking exclusively over telephone from Karachi, said.
“IPL is a big and very popular tournament. Teams are investing big money in it and therefore such devices can eliminate the umpires’ error. The BCCI should hire it and use it in the matches”.
The device, the video of which has been sent to this Reporter by Rashid Latif was imported from Australia, it is learnt here.
According to the sources in UAE, the device, which needs some repairing now could not be used by Azhar Mehmood in the current series. After playing the 5th and final ODI (Dubai) the Pak team will return home.
