Fawad Chaudhary suggests to merge NAB and FIA

Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry called for merger of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

In other countries, there is only one central investigative agency at the federal level as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the United States is the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in India.

Fawad Chaudhry said that we need the integration of the FIA ​​and NAB, but before that, the government and the opposition have to negotiate to make sure that the agency’s procedures are credible.

It is to be noted that the Federal Cabinet yesterday approved the circulation through NAB Amendment Ordinance 2019, after which President Arif Alavi also signed the ordinance, after which the ordinance came into force.

Under the new ordinance, NAB powers have been reduced and speculation is being made that the reduction of NAB powers will increase the powers of the FIA.
