US Taliban acknowledges efforts of Pakistan: Foreign Minister

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that the peace agreement between the United States and the Taliban is a great honor for Pakistan and they acknowledges peace efforts.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi is in Doha to attend the signing ceremony of a peace agreement between the US and the Taliban at the invitation of Qatar.

In this regard, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said he hoped that a peace agreement between the United States and the Taliban would be signed tomorrow (February 29) and representatives from 50 countries, including foreign ministers from different countries, would attend the ceremony.

He said it was a great honor for Pakistan and acknowledgment of Pakistan’s efforts.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said India tried its best to obstruct the Afghan peace deal, Pakistan’s identity was emerging and India was going down.

Speaking to the Pakistani community in Doha later, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the US and Taliban peace deal would not benefit Afghanistan and Pakistan but the entire region would have its benefit. If there is stability, then there will be opportunities for bilateral trade promotion.

He said that peace in Afghanistan will help achieve peace, we will benefit from 1000 KSA projects, peace in Afghanistan will restore our Central Asia links and we will have cheaper electricity in case of hydropower.

He said that our future is linked to peace in Afghanistan. When we said that the Afghan issue had to be resolved through negotiations, it was ridiculed.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the future of Afghanistan has to be decided by the Afghans themselves. They also have to decide what they want to set the future scenario for.
