The Punjab Assembly unanimously passed the Protection of Foundation of Islam Bill

The Punjab Assembly unanimously passed the Protection of Foundation of Islam Bill 2020.

Law Minister Raja Basharat presented the Protection of Foundation of Islam Bill 2020 in the House for approval which was passed by a majority vote. Giving a rolling speech on the occasion, Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that more responsibility has been given to the committee which drafted the Security Foundation Islam Bill.

The committee headed by Raja Basharat should ensure the implementation of the bill. The committee has been working on this bill for two months now. Implementation should also be the job of the committee.

After the approval of the Protection of Foundation of Islam bill, the Speaker addressed the House and said that protection of the foundation of Islam is a historic bill. I am very thankful to Allah Almighty for having it. This bill will prove to be a milestone for the protection and glory of Islam. The federation and other provinces should follow our example in this matter and this bill should be passed and implemented all over Pakistan.

He said that section 3 clause F of this bill should be specially included in clause 295C of the Pakistan Penal Code 1860. Through this bill, Allah Almighty, the honor and dignity of all holy persons, the last prophet Hazrat Muhammad Rasool Allah (SWT), all the prophets, all the heavenly books, all the angels, all the righteous caliphs, all the mothers of the believers, all the Ahl e Bayt (as), the sanctity of all the companions of the Prophet and the foundations of Islam will be protected.

“I thank the Speaker of the National Assembly, Asad Qaiser, for taking a personal interest in this matter. I will soon consult him in this regard so that it can be completed,” he said. I am also deeply grateful to Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar who passed this bill in the Cabinet.

He said that about a year ago, there was a case of three books that used insulting language about our beloved Prophet, Righteous Caliphs, and Islam. I presented a resolution in the Punjab Assembly which was passed unanimously.

He said that a special committee headed by the provincial law minister Raja Basharat has been set up which has done a great job. He appreciated the efforts of Raja Basharat who headed the committee working day and night to find the books.

I am deeply grateful to Hafiz Ammar Yasir, Leader of Opposition Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, Provincial Minister Murad Ras, and other members of the committee for presenting the resolution.

He also thanked Muhammad Taqi Usmani, Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, Maulana Hanif Jalandhari, Maulana Tahir Ashrafi, Maulana Zahid Al-Rashidi, Syed Kafil Shah Bukhari and scholars of all schools of thought for their guidance on the bill.
