1998-2017: 18% decline in the percentage of urban Pakistanis who opine that school fees for their children are very high, however majority (48%) continue to say that the school fees are very high.

According to a Gallup & Gilani Pakistan National Survey conducted in the year 1998 (19 years ago) respondents in urban Pakistan were asked, “Do you think the children’s school fee is very high, reasonable or very low?” In response, 66% said very high, 25% said they are reasonable, 1% said very low and 8% did not respond.

Comparative Picture: The question was asked again in 2017 to enable a concrete comparison. In 2017, 48% said very high, 36% said they are reasonable, 14% said very low and 2% did not respond.

Over a period of 19 years, there has been an 18% decline in the proportion of respondents who say that school fees are far too high.

This press release has been made as part of the Gallup Pakistan History Project which aims to release historical empirical polling data to wider audiences. The objective is to sustain and encourage empirical decision making in Pakistan.
