Over a period of 9 years, 26% increase in parents who say they would make choice of sending a child to school based on his/her performance in studies rather than based on gender.

According to a Gallup & Gilani Pakistan National Survey conducted in the year 2009 (9 years ago) respondents in Pakistan were asked “Suppose if you had a daughter and a son, with financial resources to educate only one child, whom would you send to school?” In response, 50% said they would educate a boy, 14% said they would educate the girl and 32% said they would educate whoever is better at studies. 4% did not know or wish to respond.

Comparative Picture: The question was asked again in 2018 to enable a concrete comparison. In 2018, 28% said they would educate a boy, 11% said they would educate the girl and 58% said they would educate whoever is better at studies. 3% did not know or wish to respond.
