The local authorities in different parts of the country issued orders for security and cleanliness arrangements on Shab-e-Barat, which is being observed Tuesday night across Pakistan.
Citizens faced traffic jams in various parts of Rawalpindi after people thronged flower shops.
Last year, special arrangements had been made for supply and drainage of water on Shab-e-Barat. Officers of all of the city’s sewerage divisions were directed to ensure that necessary facilities were in place at mosques, imambargahs and other places of worship.
Arrangements for cleanliness around graveyards were made in advance last year, with proper lighting at graveyards.
To ensure security arrangements, had directed all the deputy inspectors general to prepare contingency plans to protect the life and property of people.
Steps had also been taken to bar the purchase or sale of fireworks and any other explosive material and curb aerial firing.
