Pakistan elected president of UN Economic and Social Council for the sixth time

Pakistan has been elected President of the UN Economic and Social Council for the sixth time. Pakistan’s Permanent Representative Munir Akram will preside over the Economic and Social Council.

According to details, Pakistan has been unanimously elected President of the UN Economic and Social Council. Pakistan is being elected to this important post for the sixth time.

The Economic and Social Council is an important body of the United Nations. Pakistan’s Permanent Representative Munir Akram will chair the Economic and Social Council. Munir Akram has previously served as President of the Economic and Social Council in 2005.

Only two diplomats have held this important position more than once in the history of the United Nations. In his inaugural address, Munir Akram highlighted Pakistan’s priorities as President.

Munir Akram added that global infrastructure, financial resources for development projects, all work, and further strengthening of global efforts against climate change are also among Pakistan’s priorities.

He said that Pakistan as the President would also pay special attention to the promotion of science and technology and its access to developing countries. Pakistan will further promote Prime Minister Imran Khan’s global economic vision.
